CEI is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity : studying at a French secondary school (Collège or Lycée) while living with a welcoming host family. Students can also practice their favorite sport or activity for 4 to 8 hours per week.

Living in a French host family

Living with a host family offers an exceptional opportunity to fully immerse yourself in a new culture. Our diverse host families are carefully selected to ensure a meaningful experience. We dedicate considerable effort to matching students with families based on their profiles, personalities, and shared interests, ensuring a comfortable and enriching stay. This method not only enhances cultural understanding but also fosters lasting relationships and unforgettable memories. Students are placed in a host family on a full board basis.

CEI can offer these specific options

As part of the High School with a sport-focused program, students can practice their favorite sport or activity* for 4 to 8 hours per week.

About 80 sports and activities are available in the 700 French schools : rugby, football, dance, drama, music, swimming, basketball, handball, rowing…

*some club fees are additional.

Program

Students are placed in either public or private schools and attend classes five days a week, typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 6:00 pm, alongside their French peers.

Depending on their age, students are placed in either Troisième (14-15 years old) or Seconde (15-16 years old). They typically take courses in French literature, foreign languages, history, math, economics and science. Students placed in Classe of Première and Terminale (16 to 18 years old) will be able to express their preferences for French major subjects. All classes are taught in French.

CEI Additional Services

Language training option

CEI proposes 2 or 3 week-long intensive French language courses, before the beginning of the High School program. This program takes place at the CEI language school in Saint-Malo every August and in Paris every January.

This language course is specifically recommended for students who might not feel confident enough or wish to improve their language skills before participating in the Academic Year Program.

Meet & greet service

Transfer on arrival: included in the program price.
Transfer on departure: 250€ (optional – can be arranged upon request).

Comprehensive medical insurance

CEI provides optional medical insurance covering third-party liability, medical expenses and repatriation. This insurance is officially recognised for visa applications.

Participants selection :

All students must be between 14-18 years during their academic year in France.
An interview process is scheduled to determine the language skills and motivation of the participants.
